SHOCKING | See How This Lady Died after She Was Abandoned by the Rich Guy She Married For This Reason (photos)

Ladies, I will use this to remind you all of what I have been saying…NEVER date or marry a man for the cash he has and the comfort you believe you would enjoy by getting married to him. Wait, there is nothing wrong in marrying a rich guy but what WE will tell you for free is, you will get yourself into a mess if that is your focus because the crazy quest for a rich man will blind you to what truly matters in marital life.

Any man who does not have the fear of God – you can’t see it, you can’t feel it and you can’t hear him talk about God – don’t marry him even if he’s a Billionaire. It takes just a few months for a rich man to get tired of a woman and once that happens, sorry is your name if he lacks the fear of God.
This beautiful 24yrs old nursing mother died after her rich husband “abandoned her”. The details…

Her close friends who knew her story said that Olachi Manndarin Emmanuel got married last year to a Port Harcourt big boy, who is from Benue State, and while she was giving birth to their daughter few months later, She developed complication with her pelvic bone.
This allegedly prompted the husband to start acting funny, he beat her up before dumping her and bundling her back home to her parents house. Olachi’s condition worsened thereafter and she fell into a coma few weeks ago and all attempts to reach her husband failed as he reportedly warned the family to stay off his back as he has moved on.

Sadly, Olachi died in the process. Below is what one of her friends Ben wrote on his FB page:

“I bleed and talk out of anger tonight as I watch a small innocent girl ready to be committed to mother earth at 24 years tomorrow being Friday and her daughter will be 1 year by next tomorrow being Saturday.

To this wicked, devilish, stupid, heartless and a fool of a husband that took a girl of 22 years, married her and got her pregnant and returned her back sick to her parents and left her on a sick bed as a result of her breaking her waist during child birth, u will die like her. u are such an animal and a disappointment to humanity.

U were not forced to marry her and what u used to pay her back for the love she showed to you and left every other suitor for you is to return her back and never set ur eyes on the innocent girl for close to a year, note even when she was in coma for weeks before death.

U Mr. Benue man, u did dis cos she is not from Benue state and u work in the oil company in Port Harcourt and u have money, but let me without fear tell you that Vengance is coming cos God is ready to Avenge. U beat up the innocent girl even on clutches just for her to go, I ask when u married her, was she disabled?

U abandoned an innocent girl that is not up to a year cos u want to have nothing to do with ur wife.

Legally married and wedded in the church. hahahahahaha I see the God of Vengeance striking. Man u are very stupid for saying u can only give the family #30,000 for the burial of ur own wife.

Where have the love u both shared gone to? Why are u heartless, y did u kill ur wife and abandoned a girl that will be 1 year old by Saturday to wander in dis wicked world without the care of a mother. the people of Owerri west LGA of Imo state and the entire imolites must rise to get justice.

I will make sure justice is gotten. Above all u refused her to be buried in ur place, man I want to ask u, what on earth has this small girl done that can’t be corrected or resolved or settled or forgiven? Why must u surfer her to die at this age? Finished university in 2014, served and married u in the same year 2015 and u wickedly killed her in 2016. Vengeance is coming and God must Avange her death.

Rip MRS. Olachi and I wish your Dad is alive to prevent this insult and injustice to ur family. My prayers are that the God of Vengeance should Avenge ur death. Rip, I write with a heavy heart. Good night.

– Olachi Mandarina Emmanuel.”

North gets first female SUG president after 30 years

– After three decades of having male Student Union Government (SUG) presidents, the north has produced a female student union leader

– The new SUG president Amina Yahaya is a 400 level English student at the Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto

– She said her greatest challenge is getting females to support the their kind

First female northern Student Union President in three decades Amina Yahaya
A northern Nigerian female for the first time broke the jinx of being a student union leader in the region.

The student Amina Yahaya, a 400 level English student at the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto became  the leader of the university’s student union, a position usually taken by males.

The first female student to ever hold the position in the northern region 30 years ago is Najatu Mohammad, the wife of late Bala Mohammad – a political adviser to Abubakar Rimi, a second republic governor of Kano State.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa service, the new Student Union Government (SUG) president said her greatest challenge has been getting the support of fellow females.

She described the female folks as their own enemies.

“When it comes to leadership issues we (women) are own enemies,” Yahaya said.

“We don’t support one another mostly because some of us assume that ‘women are arrogant’ so I won’t support her. When I came to this university, there was only one female professor in my department.

“She’s been my role model,” she said.

Yahaya was formerly the vice president of the school’s student union before the impeachment of its leader.

She took over the office of the student union president from Faruk Sai’d after a vote of no confidence was passed on him by the legislative arm of the students’ assembly.

He was alleged the union’s constitution by withdrawing N200,000 from the union’s account without appropriate approval.

Yahaya also said that her ambition has always being to be involved in national politics.

FG compels bank workers to declare asset

– The escalating cases of fraud in the banking sector has informed the government’s decision to carry out an asset declaration exercise in banks

– However, bank workers have expressed concern about the exercise as some of the questions raised in the forms are almost impossible to answer

– Due to the complexity of the declaration forms, most of the workers refuse to fill details aside from their personal information

There is disquiet in the banking sector following a federal government directive that a staff assets verification and declaration exercise for every bank worker in the country be carried out.

According to the Tribune, the escalating cases of fraud in the banking sector informed the government’s decision to carry out the exercise.

However, bank workers have expressed concern about the exercise as some of the questions raised in the forms are almost impossible to answer.

Findings by the Tribune revealed that the forms issued to the bank workers to fill were markedly different from the standard assets declaration form issued by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

It was further gathered that the workers were asked to state names of their siblings, parents as well as all persons that they have business relationship with including their bank details as well as how much they have in their accounts.

But due to the complexity of the forms, most of the workers refused to fill details aside from their personal information, thereby defaulting on the submission date which was up to last week Friday.

When contacted, spokesperson of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Isaac Okorafor said the directive for banks to verify assets of their staff did not come from the apex bank.

But a source with a first generation bank, told the Tribune that the directive that bank workers should declare their assets was from the apex bank.

According to the source, the move came in view of increasing incidence of fraud among bankers.

“If you declare your assets this year and it is stated that you have two cars, you cannot then acquire 10 cars within the next two years and claim that you got them through a fantastic salary that you are earning,” he said.

Meanwhile, the former national security adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, and others implicated in the $15 billion arms deals have had their bank accounts frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to The Nation, some of those who’s accounts have been blocked by the anti-graft agency include ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh; ex-Chiefs of Air Staff, Air Marshals Adesola Amosu and Mohammed Dikko Umar; ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; ex-Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; ex-Governor Attahiru Bafarawa; ex-Minister of Finance, Bashir Yuguda; Governor Ayodele Fayose; ex-Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore; top former military chiefs; more than 30 companies and others.

The suspects, who are alleged to have between three and five accounts in different banks which they used to perpetrate the fraud, have been begging the anti-graft agency for reprieve.

UN not serious about supporting Nigeria - Northern clerics

– Some Northern clerics have come after the United Nations over reports that it is planning to withdraw its relief aid workers from Nigeria

– The clerics in Abuja on Saturday, July 30, said the UN was never interested in helping Nigeria refugees who were affected by the Boko Haram insurgency

– The clerics also called on the Senate President Bukola Saraki to desist from making comments without assertions on situations on ground

Some clerics from the northern part of Nigeria on Saturday, July 30, took a lash out on the United Nations  over its decision to pull aid workers from the region.

Speaking in Abuja, the national coordinator of the Northern Inter-faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROM) Musa Fomson said the UN was never ready to provide relief to Nigerian refugees.

On Friday, July 29, the media went agog over reports that UN planned to suspended its aid work over a Boko Haram attack on its relief staff’s convoy.

Although the UN has denied these reports, Fomson said the attack by the terrorists was a deliberate excuse for the world body too pull out its aid from Nigeria.

While condemning the attack in strong terms, Fomson commended the Nigerian military for their effort and steadfast in ensuring the security of lives and property in the region.

“It is hypocritical that the same world body that that did not do the needful to halt Boko Haram’s rise has agencies that are today making a show of providing relief to affected persons. Had there been a prompt international response to the threat of Boko Haram in the initial stage we would not be at this point now.

“It took the horror pictures that emerged from the internally displaced person’s  (IDPs) camps in North eastern Nigeria to provoke the intervention for which the convoy came under attack. Interestingly, it took just that one attack for the UN to announce a suspension of the humanitarian efforts,” Fomson said.

“The feeling we have is that the attack provided a much needed excuse for these agencies that have no interest in doing anything for the tens of thousands of people dislocated by Boko Haram.

“Had there been no attack it would have been a question of time before they cook up another excuse that would have still been used to suspend the so called humanitarian efforts,” he said.

Fomson further called out the Senate President Bukola Saraki to always conduct proper assessment of situations before reacting.

He alleged that the Senate leader have neglected the rehabilitation and reintegration process so desired by citizens from the northeast.

“The amounts allocated for the North East would have done something meaningful towards rehabilitating the population had the institution, the National Assembly, that Dr Saraki presides over as chairman performs its oversight functions diligently and curb the corruption associated with local relief efforts.

“For those who do not understand our grouse, the Senate President and the UN have been insensitive to what happens in the North East over the years.

“Many Nigerians have been killed and or maimed on the same road by terrorists in the past without them taking any notice neither did they show the sympathy now being shown to the aid workers.  For us this is hypocrisy at work.

“We therefore urge Nigerians to accept that it is their responsibility to rise up to the challenge and support their brethren. It is now glaring that we must forget about the inadequate and often strung out humanitarian assistance that serves no purpose other than providing photo ops for those behind them,” Fomson said.

Alleged multimillion naira scam rocks IMSU

– An ally of Governor Okorocha, Alex Mbata, is at the centre of a fixed deposit scam rocking the Imo state University, (IMSU) Owerri

– Contractors who are handling various infrastructural projects in IMSU are now being owed millions of naira since the funds meant to pay them have been diverted for interest purposes.

– Contracts which were supposed to be completed last year are still ongoing even after TETFund released about N800million for payment to contractors

Gov Rochas Okorocha is alleged to be supervising the fixed deposit scam at IMSU with his ally, Alex Mbata.
Report reaching NAIJ.com has it that a multimillion naira contract scam is allegedly being carried out by an ally of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state.

The ally of the governor, Alex Mbata, who is at the centre of the scam is alleged to have lodged the sum of N800 million released for capital projects at the Imo state University, (IMSU) Owerri in a fixed bank account so as to use the profit for personal purposes.

Contractors who are handling various infrastructural projects in IMSU are now being owed millions of naira after the funds meant to pay them were diverted for interest purposes.

The projects under the TETFund 2011/2012/2013 consolidated projects were awarded to contractors for the construction of various buildings at IMSU’s Owerri Campus after advertisement in at least two national newspapers were made.

But some of the contracts which were supposed to be completed last year are still ongoing even after TETFund released funds for payment to contractors handling various infrastructural projects in the university.

Sources who spoke to NAIJj.com said several projects in IMSU have been abandoned because money is not being advanced to the contractors as at when due based on the instruction of the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Alex Mbata, who is the right hand man of the Imo state governor.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, one of the contractors alleged that Mbata is covering his tracks by instructing the bank not to document the fixed deposit transaction.

So in order to mask the alleged fixing racket, the bank pays Mbata through back-hand cash payment that is not documented, the contractor said.

When asked why the acting vice chancellor, IMSU, Prof. (Mrs.) Victoria Adaobi has not intervened to save the situation, the source said the VC has failed to act even after the affected contractors sent the school authorities a petition addressed to her office.

The source also disclosed that a one-time chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and immediate VC of IMSU, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie was placed on suspension by Governor Rochas Okorocha because the pro-chancellor realized that with Awuzie on the saddle, he would be unable to perpetuate the fraud.

According to him, Awuzie said before he was unjustly suspended he “left about N2.4billion in the TETFund account and N219million in the Needs Assessment account and I know that the contractors are being owed N500million. My consistent cry that they should be paid despite the refusal of the ‘powers-that-be’ that their monies be withheld got me into trouble.”

However, the school authority has dismissed allegations that funds released by TETFund have been diverted to a fixed deposit account.

The public relations officer of the institution, Ralph Njoku-Obi in a telephone chat with our corespondent said there was also no truth in the report that all contractors working on projects in IMSU had stopped working.

He said work was still ongoing on the senate building, the news library and other projects, adding that those contractors who had stopped work probably needed to sort out some grey areas.

As regard the grey areas which needed to be sorted out, the spokesperson said since was not a contractor, he could not go into details.

On the allegations of high handedness and corruption leveled against the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Alex Mbata, Njoku-Obi said the allegations were baseless.

He noted that IMSU as an institution had laid down laws guiding the conduct of every official of the institution and insisted that the allegations against Mbata were a smear campaign being carried by persons to hurt his image.

But one of the contractors described the statement of of the PRO as an image laundry job.

He said the projects the institution’s spokesperson said were still ongoing were needs assessment projects which involved the completion of unfinished projects.

According to the contractor, all TETFund projects  which are capital projects in IMSU have been abandoned because money is not being advanced to the contractors in charge.

Nnamdi Kanu sponsors prison football competition

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reportedly sponsored a football competition in detention.

According to Vanguard, Kanu, who is in detention over treasonable felony alongside two others, is the sponsor of the 2016 Kuje Prisons Football Championship in Abuja.

Sources disclosed that Kanu, while declaring the competition open on Friday, July 29, informed that the main essence of having the tournament was to help inmates have freedom and relate freely with one another.

Below are photos from the opening ceremony:

Kanu has also spoken from his prison custody on Monday, July 25, claiming that it was not his choice to stir the agitation for Biafra, but a call made by God.

The detained leader of the IPOB insisted that his decision to restore the nation of Biafra was not his personal choice but a mandate from the Most High God (Chiukwu-okike-abiama) which was assigned to him from time immemorial.

Kanu maintained that the restoration of the nation of Biafra is a priority and a project that must be achieved under the watchful eyes of the IPOB led by himself, an arduous task that must be accomplished in order to lead his people out of the contraption called Nigeria, without fear of death.

FG to battle militants if negotiation falls

– The minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Alli, has visited Bayelsa state to see what is on ground and the operational capability of the armed forces within the zone

– Says the FG is making all the necessary security arrangements so that there will be peace in the Niger Delta

– The minister says government cannot rule out the use of force in dealing with militants

FG says it will resort to the use of force if current efforts at dialogue with militants fails.
The federal government says it cannot rule out all-out war against the Niger Delta Avengers if peaceful dialogue with the militants fails.

According to the Punch, the minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Alli stated this during a courtesy call on Bayelsa deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah, at the government house in Yenagoa.

Dan-Alli said his visit to Bayelsa state was to see what was on the ground and the operational capability of the armed forces within the zone.

The minister said: “One of the cardinal objectives that brought us here is to look for peace. But we are also preparing in case the peace and negotiations are not favourable.

“We are also on our own side making all the necessary security arrangements so that there will be peace in the Niger Delta.”

When reminded about recent statement credited to the chief of army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai, that the military will resort to the use of force if current efforts at dialogue fails, the minister said “we cannot rule it (force) out.”

When warned that there would be collateral damage if the military declared war on the militants, Dan-Alli said the military operation against militants was an internal security work and cannot be termed as going to war.

He said: “We are not saying that we are going to war; we are doing internal security work and internal security work is not war, and so you cannot start claiming collateral damage.

“We know our rules of engagement, we cannot use forces like that without any mandate.  So, collateral damage does not come in here. As far as I am concerned, we are just trying to stop criminality in this general area.”

The defence minister was in company with chief of defence staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin and the commander, operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie.

Meanwhile, prominent Ijaw leaders, including traditional rulers, have converged at the residence of Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark in Warri, to discuss the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta region.

According to the Punch, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, and the deputy governor of Delta state were still being expected at the meeting as at press time.

The Ijaw leaders are expected to discuss the present happenings in the region and state of affairs in the country, according to a source.

Nigerian army bombards creeks of militants, kills many

– The Nigerian Air Force provides bombardment on the creeks of suspected militants in Lagos and Ogun states

– The army reports that scores of militants were killed

– Mr Abubakar calls on Nigerians not to panic as the sound of blasts is just a part of exercise

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Dornier-228 aircraft
The Nigerian army caused panic in the Arepo area of Ogun state and some part of Lagos state as soldiers bombarded the base of suspected Niger Delta militants in the state.

The Punch reports that scores of militants were feared killed in the joint army operation which lasted for several hours.

The source revealed that the army attacked Fatola, the base of the militants, continuing that houses around the area were shaken by the impact of bomb blasts on the Ijaw militants.

He said: “There has been a lot of commotion. The Nigerian Air Force bombarded Fatola, in Arepo, which is the base of the militants. They are shelling the place with fighter jets. Some soldiers also surrounded the area to make sure that if any of the militants should run out, they would be gunned down.”

A local said people in the area had commenced fleeing their homes due to the operation.

Another resident in the Imushin area of Ogun state stated that two jets were engaged in the operation, continuing that only one base of the militants was attacked.

“An aircraft had actually been surveying the creek for the past three days. But a second one joined this evening around 6pm. All we heard was a sudden bomb blast released from the second aircraft. But it appeared that some of the militants had fled into the bush. There are four major bases of the militants in the creek and they are led by two men- OC and Agbala. If the military can get these two people, then they would have succeeded in clipping the wings of the militants,” he said.

A community leader, who claimed to have spoken with one of the officers, added: “The military officer said residents should not panic because it was a military exercise. I also gathered that the casualty figure was high and that a lot of the militants had been killed.”

Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, defence information director, confirmed the development, saying it involved the army and the navy.

“The military only conducts its routine operation for the purpose of denying the vandals and other criminal elements from causing terror in the area. The operation, codenamed, Operation Awatse, was initiated by the defence headquarters to dominate the area with a view to flushing out all manners of criminals including militants and saboteurs. The operation involved the joint forces of the navy and army and it has been successful,” Abubakar stated.

Niger Delta militants have invaded Igando area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria on July 27 with several people feared killed.

There was pandemonium in the area as the militants broke into people’s houses to wreak havoc.

The shootings continued for several days.

Simple Fashion Tips For Tall Men

Dressing well is important as it enhances the image of any one, ladies and gentlemen inclusive. For tall men, shopping can often become the most stressful part of their lives especially when they’ve got absolutely no clue as to what they should pick.

Although personal taste will dictate the way you dress or your personal style, depending on your body type there are also certain techniques that can be adopted to highlight the parts of your body you feel most comfortable with, whilst shifting attention away from those parts you don’t.

Opt for dark colors: When choosing the colours of suits or sneakers, you should give preference to dark colours. They make you cool and not too shouting considering the fact that you’re outstanding. Colours like black, brown or grey work perfectly.

Wear lightweight materials: Cotton fabrics can come in handy if you’re beyond average in height. They don’t add more weight to your height or make you look bigger than how you really are.

Avoid vertically striped designs as it adds to the height and thinness(for tall slim men). Large prints such as check(large checks) shirts are great for tall men. Big print casual shirts can also tone down your height.

Wear a well-structured dress: If you think your clothes from brands don’t fit you perfectly as you’d like, get custom made dress shirts but you should stay away from double pleated pants. There’s every reason to know your tailor. Avoid wearing baggy clothes.

Wear less pronounced denims: Wear denims that are kind of monochrome. You know, the ones that have threads which match the colour of the denim. Let your jean have minimal details. Avoid wearing low slung jeans.

Wear pants that fit: If your pants don’t fit you perfectly, then chances are that they are too big for you. For some, if you’re comfortable wearing pants that hug your legs, then you’re good to go.

It’s imperative that you get watches that complemented your wrists because you have larger wrists than the average man.

Tie it wide: Don’t ever wear the slim ties. Make sure your ties are neatly tied wide. Don’t fold the ties for storage, rather hang them.

Wear jackets: What better way to show off that broad chest of yours than wearing a jacket? But hey, never wear shoulder padded blazers, padded jackets and short jackets.

Wear T-shirts and Polo Necks: Wear T-shirts and polo necks that complement your height.

Avoid clinging clothes. Go for fabrics that have fullness and softness.

Avoid monochrome outfits like suits. Wear different colour top and bottom to break the length of your appearance.

Avoid wearing trousers on your belly; ensure they are on your waist. Also make sure your pants or trousers are longer than your normal length.

FG To Release Nnamdi Kanu, Others

In a bid to resolve the lingering Niger Delta crisis, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said the Federal Government has agreed to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Charles and Henry Okah, who are standing trial for alleged terrorism.

The group said the government has also agreed not to arrest Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, whom the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had declared wanted.

MEND added that an agreement has also been reached to review the life sentence handed to Edmund Ebiware, alleged mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombing.

According to Jomo Gbomo, MEND’s spokesman, said Adolphus Wabara, former senate president, led the negotiating team, which arrived at the deal with the government.

“The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is the only militant group from the Niger Delta region who are presently engaged in a dialogue with the federal government of Nigeria – through oil companies and security agencies -with a view to resolving the current Niger Delta crisis.

“Thus far, the deliberations have been fruitful, various concessions and guarantees have already been secured. Some of which include, but are not limited to: release of Henry Okah, Charles Okah and Obi Nwabueze; review of the life sentence handed to Mr. Edmund Ebiware based on a proposal put forward by the Aaron Team representative for Abia and Imo states, Senator Adolphus Wabara.

“Also, conditional release of IPOB leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and others if they renounce their agitation for a ‘Biafra Republic’.

“That Mr. Government Ekpemupolo shall not be arrested, harassed and/or intimidated whenever he makes himself available as a delegate of the MEND Aaron Team.”

Read The Touching Story Of The Rescued Young Girl Tortured and Chained by Her Aunty, Now O The Run

Cruelty against children getting too much these days. The Ogun police command has rescued another child, 10yrs old Promise Udeh, found chained in a house at Saraki, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State. She was rescued on Thursday around 7.30 pm when neighbours living close to the building where she was chained alerted the police.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Promise was chained by her aunt, Chiamaka Okafor, who accused her of stealing N4,000.

She was said to have been chained for two days (Wednesday and Thursday) before she was rescued.

Oyeyemi said Chiamaka is currently on the run but her husband, Sunday Okafor has been arrested.

Narrating how the police found the child, the police spokesperson said, “We had an information that the girl was chained to a burglarproof window at an uncompleted building at Adigbe area and this led our men to the scene.

“The girl told us that it was her aunty who chained her on the allegation that she stole a sum of N4,000. The woman is now on the run, while her husband, who is an accomplice, has been arrested and he is helping us in our investigation.”

Chiamaka, however, escaped arrest on Friday when the Divisional Police Officer of Adigbe led a team of policemen and journalists to the home of the Okafors, tucked in the inner part of the area.

On sighting the police team, she allegedly fled through the backdoor, leaving behind her four children including a baby of about six months.

One of them, Godwin said, “our mummy has gone to buy baby food.”

A frantic search for her in the neighbourhood did not yield any positive result. However, three of the Okafors’ relatives and a tenant who occupied the boys quarters in the house, were arrested.

The tenant, Segun Poviesi, who’s a Beninese, said the landlady (Chiamaka) was still in the house, a few minutes before the arrival of the police team.

“She was still around about two minutes before you arrived here. I could hear splash of water from the bathroom of the main building. But I did not know how she escaped,” he said.

His fiancee, Omotoyosi Odu, confirmed that Chiamaka, who is the landlady, indeed chained Promise, adding that she was starved for the two days before she was rescued. She told the policemen that the victim was first chained to burglarproof iron in the Okafors’ kitchen, before she was later transferred to a room in the uncompleted part of the boys quarters.

She said, “At a point, when the girl was chained to the window in the kitchen, she was crying out to me that ‘I should please give her food.’ Other neighbours too heared her cry.

“Then the landlord had left home for their shop at Pansheke Market. Later, the girl was moved to the boys’ quarters and chained again. Some of us tried to intervene but she warned us to steer clear, because it was none of our business.”

It could not be established whether Promise is a relation of the Okafors or a housemaid.

Meanwhile, Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the new state Commissioner of Police, has ordered the arrest of the fleeing suspect, Chiamaka, who chained the little girl.

This is coming barely a week after security operatives rescued a nine-year-old boy, Korede Taiwo, chained by his father, Francis, for over a month for stealing.

The father and his step-mother, Kehinde, would soon appear in court.

Heartbreaking photos of Nigerian children crying uncontrollably after losing their mother on their way to Europe

It was a sad moment for these two young Nigerian children who were among 150 sub-saharan refugees and migrants were rescued from their overcrowded boat off the coast of Libya while trying to cross the Mediterranean ocean into Italy by a Spanish NGO’s boat.

The children lost their mother in Libya on their way to Europe.

A leading migration group says more than 3,000 people have died trying to cross the Mediterranean this year, nearly a 60-percent increase from this time in 2015.
