Engr. Anthony Isiodu, the acting rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, has passed away.
He was said to have died of a heart related disease in the early hours of Monday, July 25, at National Medical Centre, Abuja, two weeks after returning from a medical trip to England, Independent reports.

His death comes seven months after his predecessor, Joshua Okpo, who was the substantive rector of the academy died in Abuja.
Isiodu was appointed acting rector by Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation shortly after Okpo’s demise.
He got the appointment by virtue of being the most senior academic staff of the nation’s foremost maritime academy after Okpo’s death in December 2015.
The Imo state indigene was the chief lecturer and head of Marine Engineering Department of the Academy before he was appointed acting rector.
Ishiodu was a pioneer cadet of the School of Marine Engineering and was the first ex-cadet of the academy to have risen to the exalted office of rector in the institution.He was further trained in the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt.
He obtained his Ph.D in the specialty of Maritime Transport from the University of Calabar, Cross River state.
Befor joining the academy in 2000, he was a staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
