Labaran Maku Lambasts ‘Unfair’ PDP Over Lawmakers’ Suspension

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labaran Maku has hit out at legislators of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for supporting the suspension of legislators from his party.

The former Minister of Information and Communications under the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, lampooned the opposition party members, saying they were supposed to stand against maltreatment or injustice rather than applaud it as they have done.

“It is sad that even the lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who are supposed to be the voice of the voiceless and check the excesses of the executive, were supporting the illegality,” he said.

Make, who said this while responding to questions from newsmen in Nasarawa-Eggon on Tuesday also appealed that the legislators should be recalled.

According to him, the constituencies of the suspended legislators have been denied representation on serious legislative matters affecting their people.

The suspended members, who are of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), were suspended for allegedly challenging the decision of the state government on the appointment of sole administrators for local government areas.

“When the governor appointed sole administrators for 11 out of the 13 local government areas in the state, the six suspended members said it was illegal to appoint sole administrators.

“They were quoted as saying that the LGA law in the state did not empower the governor to appoint sole administrators.”
