Tension In Abia PDP Over Governor Ikpeazu

There is presently great worry among stakeholders in the Abia State branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over the uncertainty that surrounds the fate of their governor, Okezie Ikpeazu in the aftermath of his sacking by a Federal High Court a month ago.

While things may appear to have quietened down in the state, Greennews.ng can report that there is actually serious tension within the party because of the division created by the court judgment that sacked Ikpeazu, declared Samson Ogah the rightful candidate for the last governorship elections and ordered the issuance of a certificate of return to the latter as the legitimate winner.

Investigations showed that government matters in the state have been largely grounded because of the stalemate with the governor putting on hold some of his projects until when the cases in court are all resolved.

Immediate past chairman of the PDP in the state, Senator Emma Nwaka, confirmed this much when he addressed the issue of the high state of tensions and uncertainty in Abia.

Nwaka, who wants government activities to continue, called for quick resolution to the stand-off in a statement he made available to newsmen in Umuahia.

“I pray fervently for early resolution of the challenges confronting Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration, a government we laboured so hard to install.

“This matter should be resolved expeditiously so that the government can deliver on its campaign promises,” he said.

“Our governor needs peace of mind to navigate the ship of state at a time like this.

“We must be mindful of the fact that this matter is taking a huge toll on the peace and stability of our state and must not be allowed to linger any further.”

“I do not know of any political problem that cannot be resolved at the negotiation table, even moreso as this is mainly an intra-party matter.

“I know that court victory doesn’t always bring peace with it,” Nwaka said.
