The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has promised to commend the attorney general of the federation Abubakar Malami and many other Nigerians over certain conditions.

The group in a press statement said it will make this commendation when the attorney general orders the release of all its members arrested in Aba over the group’s quest for the freedom of Biafra.

“We also urge the attorney general and his team who understand the meaning of non-violent approach towards the liberation of those in bondage in this country to extend the release other members who were detained in different prisons and security cells in the country and advice the president to release our leader without conditional attachment,” the statement signed by Emma Powerful, the IPOB spokesperson said.

Emma said the group is a liberation movement dedicated to self-determination of the indigenous people of Biafra in line with universally acclaimed processes and procedure.

“Having launched Biafrexit, IPOB is fully committed to pursing a referendum to determine once and for all time the issue of the sovereignty of Biafra,” Emma said.

“The same way the British government of David Cameron allowed the Scottish nation to freely choose if they want to be part of the UK or not and most recently Brexit that culminated in the removal of Britain from the EU, we, IPOB will continue to demand the civilised world to prevail upon Buhari to allow Biafrans to freely choose where they wish to belong.

“The issue of Biafra self determination cannot be swept under the carpet because Biafra is in black Africa where acceptable civilised standards are lacking. What is good for Scotland and Britain at large is also good for Biafra.

“We therefore urge the attorney general of the federation to continue on this path by releasing all Biafra detainees including the leader of IPOB worldwide Mazi Nnamdi Kanu whose continued illegal detention is the primary reason why Nigeria is falling apart today.

“Buhari’s government underestimated the strength of IPOB and the appeal of Nnamdi Kanu’s message which continues to gain ground on a daily basis around the whole world. Events have vindicated the stance of IPOB because numerous nationalities are now crying out for freedom,” he said.

For some years now, many Nigerians in the south eastern part of the country in various agitataions have called for the disintegration of Nigeria.

These people currently led by the leader of IPOB Nnamdi Kanu – who is under prison custody pending the outcome of a criminal charges of felony and assisting in the mismangement of an unlawful society in Nigeria – have called for the sovereign nation.
