Other activities lined up for the event include the flag –off of one million tree planting campaign in the state and the N20 million project for each of the 177 communities in the state by the governor.
According to Nnacheta, activities for the silver jubilee celebration would last for three months, with a grand finale in December this year.
He urged the people of the state to use the occasion to pray fervently for the sustenance of peace and progress in the state.
Awka – Mr. Jude Emecheta, Managing Director, Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency, has listed security, agriculture, education, tourism and stability as the most significant achievements of Anambra State in its 25 years of existence.
Emecheta, a celebrated politician and public Relations guru before he took up appointment in the Obiano administration described Anambra as a transition root to many other states which were carved out of the old Anambra State, noting that security had been the most outstanding achievement of the state “with Governor Willie Obiano almost completely stamping out crime from the state.”
Emecheta recalled that successive administrations starting from Governors Chinwoke Mbadinuju through Chris Ngige to Peter Obi had waged relentless war against crimes in the state until Obiano came into office to stamp it out.
He advised Obiano to spend as much as he can on security to maintain the tempo and even improve on it because security is what breeds stability.
He also said that tourism and infrastructure development have taken a centre stage in the state with the three flyovers at Awka and Amawbia giving the state capital a face-lift. Besides, the state government has developed the caves that form tourism attraction to the state.
“Today, people come to sleep in Awka. Obiano has also opened up the caves. In terms of infrastructure, Anambra has the best network of roads and with security; the state has been opened up,” he said.
