Nigerian man Obiechina Okete jailed for 16 years for rape


A Nigerian man named Obiechina Okete based in Reading, UK has been jailed for 16 years after being found guilty of two counts of rape. The 38 year old was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 after being found guilty by a jury at the same court on Wednesday, October 28.

Okete was given nine years in prison for the first rape and seven years for the second, to be served consecutively. A supervised license period of nine years will follow and Okete will be added to the sex offenders' register.

The sentences relate to the rape of a woman in her 30s in Reading in the early hours of Friday, February 27 2015 and also of a woman in her late teens who was raped by him, also in Reading in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2016.
