As I am speaking to you, they are still there molesting people. “They have arrested many persons and villagers have fled into the bush, this is wrong, they are going to worsen issues with what they are doing. I posted on Facebook that they invaded Oporoza and a military called me to tell me that they would deal with me. “If they want to kill me, let them go ahead, but I will continue to say the truth, why are they harassing my people, they should harass the militants whose activities we condemn,” he added.

Niger Delta Avengers Unveils Currency, See Photo Of New "Money"

Militancy in the oil-rich Niger Delta has taken a new turn as militants have vowed to break away from the federation of Nigeria. The separatist feelings and aspirations which resulted in the ongoing bombing of oil and gas facilities in the region have eventually found expression in unveiling its 'national' currency. Militants have been carry out attacks on oil and gas facilities of multinational oil corporations in the region the very latest being Chevron facility at its Escravos terminal on Thursday.

Niger Delta Avengers which have claimed responsibility for the attacks have vowed to stop at nothing until a sovereign state of the Niger Delta is actualized. A source who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity says much has been done to the region's ecosystem resulting from the operations of oil companies in the region and that every hue and cry raised so far to draw the government's attention to their predicament has fallen on deaf ears. Hence the action to secede from Nigeria became absolutely necessary to save communities in the neglected region from gradual extinction.

UK mosques ban Muslim women from wearing trousers, leaving home without husband's permission, orders them to close FB accts

Muslim women must not leave the house without their husband’s permission, should avoid wearing trousers and should even delete their Facebook accounts, according to rulings published by mosques and Islamic associations around Britain.

The Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham said that women were not allowed to wear trousers, even in front of their husbands, while the Central Masjid of Blackburn called Facebook a 'sin' and an 'evil'.
One Islamic organisation also stated that Muslim women should not leave the house without their husband's permission and should not travel more than 48miles without their husband.

An article entitled 'Dangers of Facebook' was published on the Central Masjid of Blackburn's website which stated that: 'Facebook has opened the doors for sin. Muslim girls and women alike have become prey to this evil.'
In a Q&A, one Muslim asked the Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham if women could wear jeans. Citing an Islamic scholar, the reply was that women were not permitted to wear trousers, even in front of their husband, as they show off 'the details of her body'.

A document written by a mufti at the Croydon Mosque and Islamic Centre, entitled 'Advice for the husband and wife', also stated: 'A woman should seek her husband's permission when leaving the house and should not do so without his knowledge.'
In another article, the mosque calls abortion 'a great sin' and describes acting and modelling as 'immoral acts'.

We won't interfere in players selection, we are not making money from friendlies- NFF

The NFF Secretary General Sanusi Mohammed has stressed that the Football Federation will not interfere with the affairs of the coaches and also revealed they won't be making any financial gain from the Super Eagles friendlies slated for this month end and June.

Nigeria will meet fellow West Africans, Mali at the Stade Robert Diochon in Rouen, in France on May 27 before facing Luxembourg in Luxembourg City on June 1 at a venue yet to be finalised.
The friendly games are organised to prepare the Eagles when the African qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup resume in October and the NFF through it's Secretary General have said they will support the coaches in every way possible and not interfere with players' selection so that the Super Eagles will have the best possible preparation ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
“The NFF will not in any way interfere in players selection for the World Cup qualifiers. Our mission is to assist the coaches in rebuilding a formidable Super Eagles… this is why we have organised warm up games for the team. The logistics needed to select the best available players has also been put in place to help the coaches,”  NFF Secretary General, Dr linSanusi Mohammed said during a press briefing.
When asked why the NFF won't be making any money from the friendly fixtures which will be played away from home, Sanusi said;
“It is not about the money. Everything we are doing is for national benefit, “Sanusi said. “Every time you go to play a friendly match outside Nigeria, of course, you are showcasing Nigeria and its culture and at the same time, you are trying to build a team that Nigerians will be proud of”. Sanusi said to journalists as reported by ThisDay.
Luxembourg who Nigeria will play in one of the friendlies has no football pedigree and is the second least ranked European team in the world at a position of 146.

Woman arrested after spending millions on designer bags after £2.3m was mistakenly deposited into her account

A woman, Christine Jiaxin Lee, from Malaysia has been arrested after she spent millions on luxury items including designer bags when £2.3 million was mistakenly transferred into her bank account.

She received the money into her Westpac bank account as an overdraft four years ago and has been 'living the life' since.
According to Nine News, Lee allegedly spent £1.7 million in less than a year when she bought designer handbags and made cash transfers.

The girl who is also a chemical engineering student, was arrested by the Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport on Wednesday night and according to the report she still owes about £1.7million to the bank.

Lee appeared at Waverley Local Court on Thursday where she was charged with 'dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime'.

According to the court, police were aware of the withdrawal of the money in 2012, but they only issued the arrest warrant on March 4 this year, but the girl's lawyer said she didn't spend the money illegally, and spent majority of the funds on designer handbags.

She will appear at  the Downing Centre Local court on June 21.

Man U's Ryan Giggs' £2million mansion painted with vile abuses after his wife leaves him for cheating with another lady

Manchester United football legend and current assistant coach Ryan Giggs' 2million Pounds mansion has been covered in graffiti of vile abuses after it was revealed his wife, Stacey, left him because he cheated on her with a PR girl and showered expensive gifts on the girl.

Vandals painted the words 'I hope she was worth it'  along with 'Welsh c***t' on his gate and walls as the Manchester United man gears up for a messy divorce scandal.

Giggs' wife Stacey, 37, walked out on the  millionaire football legend after she lost patience with his womanizing ways and the Police have been called to investigate the wall and gate vandalising incident.
A team has been called to try and scrub away the messages but it is likely to take all day according to the police.

His wife has stayed with him even after he cheated on her with his brother's wife or 8 years and even paid her to abort his child, but she took the last straw after he cheated on her with PR girl, 32-year-old Kate Greville and even showered her with gifts, handbags, flowers and expensive items.

The footballer, 42, also spent £150,000 on a controversial legal battle to hush up his affair with a glamour model.
But it has now emerged that his wife now wants a divorce, and he stands to lose half his £40million fortune.

We miss Jonathan - Kehinde Ifemi Maye

Editor’s note: In the last year presidential election Nigerians chose a former military dictator and anticorruption crusader Muhammadu Buhari. Goodluck Jonathan became the first Nigerian leader to lose an election since democracy returned to the nation in 1999. While Buhari has been facing a lot of criticism for his slow approach for implementing much-awaited change, Nigerians praise him for anti-corruption war and success against the Boko Haram. However, Kehinde Ifemi Maye in this piece for Scannews explains why Nigerians are missing former president Jonathan.

Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari (R)

Let’s be honest! We miss GEJ. He was slow but he was moving. He was quiet yet we were kept informed. He was soft yet Boko Haram was fazing out. He was dark but we had light. His administration was a vector quantity, it had direction. He was reserved yet we had fun (thanks to Patience). He was a hero yet we never praised him. He promised little, he gave more. But i guess we wanted much more.

So we were deceived. They condemned his strength and exaggerated his fault. They painted ‘Nigeria’s problem’ as ‘Jonathan’s problem’. They promised the impossible. Just to get our votes. And so we were deceived with their cry for ‘change’. But how can they change us when they cannot change themselves!

Buhari signs 2016 budget

President Muhammadu Buhari flanked by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang during the budgeting signing ceremony at the State House on Friday, May 6, 2016.

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law after an initial rancour between the Executive and the Legislature on some of the contents of the Bill.

“I can’t promise that it will be an easy journey, but I can assure this government you have freely elected will work with honesty and dedication,” the President said during the budget signing.

He said his government was committed to changing the structure of the Nigerian economy “once and for all,” while also commending the sacrifice and resilience Nigerians “who have continued to have hope and confidence of a great future.”

The event, which took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was witnessed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and National Chairman of the ruling APC John Odigie-Oyegun.

Buhari said at the event that through the 2016 budget, titled “Budget of Change’’, the government seeks to fulfil its own side of the social contract.

“The Budget I have signed into law provides for aggregate expenditures of N6.06 trillion,’’ he said.
According to Buhari, the budget is intended to “signpost a renewal of our commitment to restoring the budget as a serious article of faith with the Nigerian people.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that henceforth the annual appropriation bill is presented to the National Assembly in time for the passage of the Act before the beginning of the fiscal year’’.

He said that in designing the 2016 budget, the administration made a deliberate choice to pursue an expansionary fiscal policy in spite of the huge decline in government revenues from crude oil exports.

He said that was why it decided “to enlarge the budget deficit at this time, to be financed principally through foreign and domestic borrowings’’.

The president noted that all borrowings would, however, be applied towards growth-enhancing capital expenditures.
He also reassured that in spite of the current difficulties the administration would work extra-hard to achieve its revenue projections.

“Our revenue generating agencies are coming under better management and are re-oriented.

“The implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) is expected to contribute significantly to improving transparency over government revenues.

“Our determined fight against corruption is resulting in improvements in the quality of public expenditure.

“The work of Efficiency Unit, as well as other public financial management initiatives, are also contributing in this regard.

“The continuing efforts to reduce recurrent expenditures should hopefully free up more funds for capital expenditure in 2017 and beyond,’’ he added.

Buhari observed that Nigerians were experiencing probably the toughest economic times in the history of the nation and added that he was not alienated from the peoples’ struggle.

“I read the newspapers and listen to the TV and radio news; I hear your cries; I share your pains. I want to commend the sacrifice, resilience and toughness of all Nigerians, young and old, who have despite the hardships continued to have hope and confidence of a great future for Nigerians.

“But permit me to say that this government is also like none other. We are absolutely committed to changing the structure of the Nigerian economy once and for all,’’ he said.

He said government was working hard to diversify the economy such that the country would never again have to rely on one commodity to survive.

He said the aim was that we could produce the food we eat, make our own textiles and produce most of things we use.

“We intend to create the environment for our young peoples to be able to innovate and create jobs through technology.’’

He acknowledged that the

EXPOSED: Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Obi Asika, 107 Others Mentioned In Panama Papers

At least 110 Nigerian individuals and companies have so far been identified by PREMIUM TIMES in the leaked internal data of Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonsecca, as operators of offshore shell companies in tax havens.

Prominent among the new names being revealed today, in addition to the several that were published in the past one month, are the founder of telecommunication company, Globacom, Mike Adenuga; Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sadiq Sani Bello and the late Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, among others.

The list also contained names of Arik Chairman, Joseph Arumemi-Johnson and his wife, Mary, as well as two serving senators – Andy Uba (Anambra) and Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto).

Other top business persons, politicians, and their family members were also found in the infamous database, including those currently holding public offices. See full list below.

The publication details names of companies, their owners and the particular tax havens the offshore firms are domiciled.

PREMIUM TIMES is the only Nigerian media organisation with exclusive access to the documents obtained by German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and shared by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) with over 80 media organisations around the world.

Since April 3, 2016, when the news of the unprecedented leak broke worldwide, PREMIUM TIMES has published series of exclusive reports about the offshore assets of prominent Nigerians named in the database that is now globally referred to as #PanamaPapers. Some of them, who are public officer holders, held the assets in violation of Nigerian law, failing to declare them to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The investigation revealed the assets of some of Nigeria’s most powerful individuals, including Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote; President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki; convicted former governor of Delta State, James Ibori; the boss of Oando, Nigeria’s biggest indigenous oil firm, Wale Tinubu, in tax havens such as the British Virgin Islands, Panama, and Seychelles.

The unprecedented year-long investigation involving 11.5 million secret documents – which stretch from 1977 to December 2015 – exposed the hidden underground of the world economy, a network of banks, law firms and other middlemen that utilize shell companies, sometimes using them to hide illegal wealth.

The 2.6 TB files, involving 214,488 entities, also revealed hundreds of details about how former gun-runners, contractors and other members of the spy world use offshore companies for personal and private gain.

The investigation unveiled the cloak of secrecy provided by Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian law firm that specializes in creating offshore companies, some of which have been used by con men and women to hide Ponzi schemes, predatory lending scams, and other financial frauds from their victims and from the authorities.

The use of shell companies is not illegal and there are individuals and firms who incorporate them for purely legitimate purposes.
